Yusuf Presents N1.368 Trillion 2026 Budget, Prioritises Education, Health and Infrastructure in Historic Capital Allocation

Gov Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has submitted the 2026 Appropriation Bill, totalling N1 368 127 929 271, to the Kano State House of Assembly.
The bill underscores the administration’s commitment to completing legacy projects and advancing inclusive development across the state.
The proposed budget allocates 68 percent to capital expenditure – N934.6 billion – and 32 percent to recurrent spending – N433.4 billion, representing one of the highest capital‑to‑recurrent ratios in recent history.
Governor Yusuf said the allocations reflect the administration’s development priorities. Education receives N405.3 billion (30 percent), Infrastructure N346.2 billion (25 percent) and Health N212.2 billion (16 percent).
“These allocations demonstrate our unwavering determination to invest heavily in human‑capital development, safeguard the well‑being of our people and lay the physical foundation for sustainable growth,” he said.
He added that the Economic and Social Sectors remain central to the 2026 fiscal plan, with substantial provisions for Agriculture, Security, Commerce, Water, Environment, Tourism, Women and Youth Development, and People with Special Needs.
Governor Yusuf reaffirmed the administration’s pledge to align budgetary priorities with citizens’ aspirations, describing the budget as “a bold but realistic roadmap” designed to secure a resilient and prosperous Kano.
He urged legislators to grant the bill timely passage, stressing that their oversight and partnership are critical to translating the budget into tangible projects and services for the people
