Yusuf pledges swift security action after bandit attacks in Tsanyawa, Shanono

Kano, Gov.Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State on Tuesday visited Joint Task Force (JTF) bases in Yankamaye, Faruruwa and Tsaure to assess ongoing operations against banditry in Shanono and Tsanyawa local government areas.
The visit, announced by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, underscored the state’s determination to restore peace and security in the affected communities.
Governor Yusuf met with officers and troops on the ground and assured them of full government support, including enhanced logistics, operational resources and any other assistance required to sustain and strengthen security operations.
The multi‑agency operation is anchored on effective border management between Kano and Katsina, improved logistics, additional deployment of security personnel and enhanced inter‑agency synergy to ensure rapid response to emerging threats.
The governor said infrastructure improvements would be carried out to improve access to remote communities, while community‑empowerment initiatives would be introduced to strengthen local self‑defence and vigilance.
Speaking on behalf of the heads of security agencies, Brig. General A.M. Tukur, Commandant of the Bridgate, thanked the governor for his logistic support and affirmed that the combined measures – improved mobility, reinforced deployments and community engagement – are already yielding positive results, significantly reducing bandit incursions in the area.
Governor Yusuf reiterated the government’s commitment to protect every resident, warning criminals that the state will relentlessly pursue bandits until peace is fully restored. He called on community members to cooperate with security agencies, provide actionable intelligence and remain vigilant.
