Police Deploys 6,505 Personnel, 3,358 Others for Niger Elections

Niger state police command has deployed 6,505 police personnel and 3,358 other security agencies to ensure free, fair, credible, all inclusive and violence free governorship and state assembly elections across the state.

The Assistant Inspector General of police election Zone 7, Aishetu Abubakar made this disclosure while briefing newsmen at the command headquarters in Minna, assuring to have explored all means to ensure the sanctity of the election in Niger state.

According to her, she had received briefs, interact with officers, visit the INEC on level of preparedness and expressed satisfaction over the readiness while assuring of adequate provision of security before, during and after the polls.

AIG Aishetu Abubakar maintained that security agencies have been directed to exhibit high sense of professionalism in their conduct while she urged the citizens to conduct themselves in a peaceful and matured manner.

She also warned the political stakeholders to conduct their engagements within the confines of the laws of the Electoral Acts and guidelines and respect the party constitution for the corporate existence of the country.

She called on the media exhibit strict adherence to the code of conduct, objective, balance and unbias in their reportage for the peaceful coexistence and assured of their maximum protection.

The AIG however appealed to the royal fathers and religious leaders to ensure peace in their domains, adding that the identified lapses during the presidential and National Assembly elections would be forestall during Saturday’s polls.
