You are moral guardians of society -SSG tells education managers

Kano, The Secretary to the Kano State Government, Alhaji Umar Ibrahim, has urged education managers at all levels, to look beyond their responsibilities as teachers, but as moral guardians of society.
Ibrahim made the call while receiving executive members of the Joint Consultative Forum (JCF) of Kano state-owned tertiary institutions.
The JCF, led by its Chairman, Dr. Badamasi Inuwa, made a courtesy visit to the office of the SSG.
He expressed delight that education stakeholders continue to send goodwill messages, demonstrating appreciation for the present administration’s priority on education.
According to him, the 2026 budget which allocates 30 per cent to the education sector, reflects government’s unwavering commitment to human‑capital development.
“This is a clear testimony that we value education more than any other sector; It is the pivot around which meaningful human development revolves,” he said,
He urged education managers to increase efforts not only in producing academically sound graduates but also in building a morally upright society.
“Education without morality is nil,” he said
.
Meanwhile, the JCF chairman thanked the SSG for the warm reception and expressed the forum’s gratitude to the state governor for approving over 85 per cent of their demands.
He said that with these issues addressed, the forum is ready to support government’s developmental agenda.
In a related development, the executive members of the National Parents‑Teachers Association of Nigeria (NAPTAN), Kano State Chapter, also paid a courtesy visit to the SSG.
The delegation sought government’s approval to re‑introduce the PTA levy, a minimum of one hundred naira per term, to complement efforts to improve school infrastructure and strengthen supervision of pupils’ conduct.
Responding, the SSG commended the association for its initiative, adding that the association remains a major stakeholder in school maintenance and moral guidance.
He assured them of government’s support and wished both delegations a safe return to their base.(NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
