Kano, In a bid to address the menace of improper waste disposal in Kano metropolis and its environs, a philanthropy Alhaji Haruna Danzago on Saturday flagged off an intensive street to street waste evacuation operation in Kano.

Speaking at the flagged at Unguwar Wudilawa ,Near Kofar Kudu, in Municipal Local Government on Saturday.

Danzago said the exercise was geared towards complementing the efforts of government in tackling the menace of waste disposal in and outside the metropolis.

“We started the exercise with a loader and ten trucks to properly ensure total collection of waste in Municipal ,Gwale and Dala local government areas.

He said that the exercise would proceed to Unguwar Kurna , Mallam Aminu Kano and Kurna in Fagge Local Government Area.

He explained that all identified refuses on major roads in the metropolis and waters ways would be evacuated to prevent flooding during raining seasons.

Danzago said that operation “keep Kano metropolis clear would enable residents fast-track the clearing of waste from the streets of Kano metropolis and restore environmental sustainability.

” I am worry with heaps of refuse in all the major highways capable of posing serious threats to the health and vitality of residents if not unchecked”,he said.

He said that the current poor state of the environment during the raining season had exposed the past administration poor management of the waste disposal in the state .

He expressed dismay that trucks and other facilities needed for evacuation of refuses exercise were sold to individuals by the immediate past administration. .

” I am personally embarking on the operation clear Kano as part of my modest contribution to the smooth take up of the present administration in the state .

” I appeal to residents to complement the efforts of the government to desist from dumping of waste disposal on water ways and major roads so as to prevent flooding during and after the raining season”,he concluded.
