The Rano Local Government Council has taken a significant step towards improving maternal and child healthcare by distributing free essential drugs and consumables to 10 primary healthcare facilities across the area.

The initiative, valued at ₦10 million, was made possible through the generous support of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s administration.

During the flag-off ceremony, Council Chairman Malam Naziru Yau reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to ensuring access to quality healthcare for all.

He emphasized the importance of transparency and accountability in the handling and distribution of the medical supplies, urging health facility in-charges to ensure that the drugs reach the intended beneficiaries, particularly under-five children and expectant mothers.

The distributed items include oral rehydration salts, routine medications, antimalarials, analgesics, antibiotics, and blood tonics, among others.

The Primary Healthcare Coordinator, Hon. Yau Musa Durum, highlighted the critical role of healthcare in driving sustainable development and community well-being, praising the initiative as timely and impactful.

This initiative is expected to significantly boost maternal and child health outcomes in Rano and reinforce public confidence in the local healthcare system.

The council’s efforts demonstrate its commitment to improving the health and well-being of its citizens, particularly the most vulnerable populations.
