Kano Delegation Meets With Aliko Dangote Foundation to Discuss Areas of Intervention in Education Sector

A Kano State Delegation, led by Commissioner of Education, Dr. Ali Haruna Makoda, met with representatives of the Dangote Foundation to discuss potential support for the state’s education sector.

Briefing journalists after the meeting in Victoria Island, Lagos, Dr. Makoda disclosed that key discussion points included the Dangote Foundation’s possible support for renovating dilapidated schools, improving infrastructure, and learning conditions in Kano. 

He added that the meeting also explored the foundation’s potential intervention in training and retraining teachers to enhance education quality in the state.

Dr. Makoda emphasized the commitment of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s administration to education development, stating,

 “This meeting with representatives of the Dangote Foundation clearly demonstrates the commitment of the Kano State Government to addressing the inherited deplorable condition of the state’s education sector.

 We discussed several education matters, including how the foundation can support the ministry in renovating dilapidated schools and assisting in the training and retraining of teachers to achieve quality education.”

The delegation team comprised:

– Dr. Ali Haruna Makoda, Commissioner of Education

– Comrade Nura Ma’aji Sumaila, Commissioner, Ministry for Public Procurement, Project Monitoring, and Evaluation

– Haladu Muhammad, Technical Adviser to the Governor on Education Reform

– Rabi’u Saleh Gwarzo, Executive Secretary, Kano State Senior Secondary Schools Management Board
