Kano State Governor Revives Abandoned Trailer Park Projects

By Aminu Garko
Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has announced plans to revive the abandoned trailer park projects in Dakatsalle and Gundutse, Kano South zone.
This decision follows an unscheduled visit to the Dakatsalle site, where the governor expressed concern over frequent road blockages caused by heavy-duty vehicles.
The trailer park projects were initially launched in 2014 during Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso’s administration but were abandoned during the administration of Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.
Governor Yusuf has committed to completing the projects to improve road safety, alleviate traffic congestion, and enhance economic development in the state.
The governor criticized the previous administration’s actions, describing the vandalization and redistribution of the Dawanau project site as “unpatriotic.” He also revoked all land allocations within the Dakatsalle and Gundutse trailer park areas to facilitate the projects’ revival.
Upon completion, the trailer parks will be handed over to the National Association of Road Transport Owners (NARTO) for efficient management and operations. The governor has also directed relevant agencies to enforce road traffic regulations, ensuring no major roads are obstructed by activities within or outside the city.
