SOKOTO — The leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Sokoto State, Sen. Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, has endorsed Gov. Ahmad Aliyu for a second term and commended his administration for delivering people-oriented projects.
Wamakko spoke on Thursday at the APC secretariat in Sokoto during the formal affirmation of Aliyu as the party’s governorship candidate for the 2027 general elections.
He said the governor had demonstrated loyalty to the APC and sustained developmental projects that improved infrastructure and expanded access to basic services across the state.
According to Wamakko, the governor’s style of governance prioritises the needs of ordinary citizens and ensures that development is spread evenly across communities. He added that the growing confidence among party members stemmed from the administration’s inclusiveness and transparency.
The APC leader commended stakeholders for maintaining discipline and unity, describing the consensus arrangement that produced Aliyu’s candidacy as evidence of political maturity within the party.
Reflecting on the 2023 elections, Wamakko said defections from the APC had strengthened the party by allowing it to reorganise and consolidate its grassroots presence.
He expressed confidence that the APC would secure victory at all levels in 2027 if members remained united and committed to the party’s ideals, and urged supporters to sustain backing for the administration’s development agenda.
Party leaders, stakeholders and supporters attended the event.
