Jos – August 23, 2026 – Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, and his counterparts from Yobe, Sokoto and Jigawa states have commended the National Chairman of the Council of Ulama of Jama’atul Izalatul Bid’a Wa Iqamatussunnah, JIBWIS, Sheikh Sani Yahaya Jingir, for his efforts in promoting unity and peaceful coexistence in Nigeria.
The Governor’s Spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, said in a statement on Sunday that the commendation was made at a one-day National Symposium on “Enhanced Political Participation and Support for Social Justice as a Panacea for Unity and Development in Nigeria” held at the Saddiqa Event Centre, Jos, Plateau State.
Speaking at the event, the National Chairman, Administration, of JIBWIS, Sheikh Abdulnasir Abdulmuhuyi, expressed a vote of confidence in the Tinubu-Shettima administration. He said the Federal Government had demonstrated commitment to national development in its first three years in office and deserved support for a second term to consolidate its achievements.
Also, the National Chairman of the JIBWIS Council of Ulama, Sheikh Muhammad Sani Yahaya Jingir, urged members of the organisation nationwide to renew their support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
Speaking on behalf of the governors, Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, recalled Nigeria’s political history, including the 1993 presidential election involving Chief MKO Abiola and his running mate, Ambassador Babagana Kingibe.
Buni commended Sheikh Jingir for his commitment to promoting national unity through his preaching, describing his efforts as vital to fostering peaceful coexistence.
In a goodwill message, the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, said Nigerians could not afford to lose the Tinubu-Shettima administration in 2027. He also commended Sheikh Jingir for his role in promoting unity across the country.
Meanwhile, Hon. Ibrahim Kabir Masari and Governor Buni each donated N300 million toward the establishment of Fortune University, founded by Sheikh Jingir.
The symposium brought together Islamic scholars, political leaders, government officials and JIBWIS members from across the country to deliberate on political participation, social justice, national unity and sustainable development.
