PRP accuses Kwankwaso of buying party tickets, threatens legal action

By Aminu Garko

Kano – The Peoples Redemption Party has accused Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso of attempting to take control of its nomination tickets ahead of future elections.

Chairman of the PRP North-West Stakeholders Forum, Abdullahi Musa Giza, made the allegation at a press conference in Kano on Saturday.

Giza said nomination forms for all 69 elective positions under the PRP had been purchased by an individual who is not a member of the party. He claimed similar actions had been carried out in more than seven other political parties, describing it as a threat to democratic practice and internal party democracy.

He said the forum was concerned by reports linking Kwankwaso to the exercise, and questioned why the former Kano State governor would seek to control nomination tickets across several parties.

“Such actions amount to political deception and could deny genuine party members the opportunity to contest elections on their preferred platforms,” he said.

Giza described the development as “political robbery” capable of creating confusion and disputes in the electoral process if left unchecked. He said the PRP was founded on democratic values and would not tolerate any attempt to hijack its internal processes.

He added that the party had many loyal members interested in contesting elections and insisted their rights must be protected.

The chairman appealed to Kwankwaso to allow political parties to operate independently and democratically, and warned that the forum would seek legal redress if the alleged actions continued.
