ABUJA — Nigeria’s Ambassador to China, Lt.-Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazau, has met with the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR, to strengthen collaboration on trade facilitation and economic diplomacy between Nigeria and China.
The meeting, held at the Nigeria Customs Service headquarters in Abuja, was part of consultations ahead of Dambazau’s assumption of duties as ambassador.
Dambazau said the Nigeria Customs Service would be a key partner in advancing trade facilitation, investment opportunities, customs cooperation and other strategic national interests.
“I am here to establish strong collaboration towards an effective working relationship and a successful diplomatic tenure in the interest of Nigeria and Nigerians,” he said.
Adeniyi commended the ambassador’s proactive approach, describing the visit as timely and strategic. He congratulated Dambazau on the appointment and said it reflected President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s confidence in his experience, discipline and leadership.
The comptroller-general assured Dambazau of the service’s full support in achieving his diplomatic objectives and pledged closer cooperation to promote policies that advance Nigeria’s interests.
Dambazau, a former minister of interior and chief of army staff, was appointed Nigeria’s ambassador to China by President Tinubu earlier this year.
