Maigatari ( Jigawa) The Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Mr Bashir Adeniyi, has reaffirmed the service’s unwavering commitment to impacting lives beyond revenue generation and border enforcement.

This came to the fore with the inauguration of renovated classrooms, toilets, and a solar-powered borehole at Malam Alhassan Primary School in Maigatari Local Government Area of Jigawa.

The News Agency of Nigeria ( NAN) reports that Adeniyi stated that the projects symbolised the agency’s resolve to strengthen community relations and contribute meaningfully to national development, particularly in peaceful border communities like Maigatari.

He urged the residents and beneficiaries to make judicious use of the facilities to secure a brighter future for their children.

The intervention was part of the service’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme, which also included the renovation of a health facility in the area.

The  Zonal Coordinator, Nigeria Customs Service, NP Umoh, said the transformative leadership of Adeniyi had made CSR a major pillar of the service.

Over 1,800 units of educational materials were distributed to pupils to enhance teaching and learning.

Comptroller NP Ibrahim, in charge of CSR, said the “Customs Care” initiative reflected the service’s vision of extending its mandate beyond revenue collection to social impact.

Stakeholders, including the Chairman of Maigatari Local Government Area, Usman Na’Allah, and Jigawa Governor’s representative, Alhaji Babangida Umar, commended the NCS for the invaluable gesture.
