Kano Govt.Breaks Silence On Alleged Diversion Of N6.5 BN

Kano, The Kano State Government has responded to a series of false narratives circulating in the digital media space regarding the accountability, trust, and financial worthiness of some key political aides.
A particular publication online Daily Nigerian on August 22nd, 2025, alleged the withdrawal and diversion of ₦6.5 billion from the state treasury, implicating the Director General of the Protocol Directorate, Abdullahi Rogo.
This is contained in a statement issued by governor’s spokesperson Sunusi Bature DawakinTofa in Kano on Monday.
The government clarifies that every cash outflow is properly budgeted with clear codes spelt out in the fiscal policy of the state.
The Directorate of Protocol handles critical responsibilities, including logistics, accommodation, welfare, and management of the Governor’s itineraries, which involve large volumes of financial transactions.
The government asserts its commitment to transparency, accountability, and zero tolerance for corruption.
It expresses confidence in the integrity of the Director General, Directorate of Protocol, and notes that the administration will not succumb to deliberate acts of political blackmail.
The government highlights the alleged nefarious activities of a particular opposition group seeking to pull the present administration down.
It contrasts its administration with the previous one, citing reckless governance and corruption under the immediate past administration.
The government reaffirms its commitment to transparency and accountability, urging credible media platforms not to allow unpatriotic groups or individuals to use their medium to mislead or misinform the public.
It encourages lawful processes and remains confident that its officials can fully explain and defend their actions in line with due process and public service regulations.
The government concludes by cautioning opposition figures to disengage from spreading lies and misinformation.
while welcoming constructive criticism and lawful scrutiny. It will remain indifferent on the matter, which is currently before a court of competent jurisdiction, until the case is determined
