The Kano State Government has expressed its commitment to supporting the Better Education for Africa’s Rise (BEAR) III project, a joint initiative between UNESCO and the Republic of Korea.

The project aims to strengthen technical and vocational education and training (TVET) systems in selected African countries.

According to Dr. Ali Haruna Abubakar Makoda, the State Commissioner of Education, the BEAR III project aligns with the state government’s policies on improving technical and vocational training.

He emphasized that the project will provide skills acquisition programs to make youth self-reliant.

The project focuses on the agricultural sector, with an emphasis on agro-processing and post-harvest management.

It will be implemented in four West African countries, including Nigeria, Ghana, Cote d’Ivoire, and Sierra Leone, from 2023 to 2024.

The Kano State Government has assured its commitment to partnering with UNESCO and the Republic of Korea to enhance technical and vocational training in basic and post-basic schools across the state.
