NGO expresses concerns over court judgment voiding resolutions of NNPC

Kano A Non Governmental Organisation the Conference of Northern States Civil Society Networks has expressed concern over the recent Court judgement voiding all resolutions of NNPC limited board from twenty twenty two to date.
Similarly it has also described the directive for the reinstatement of Senator Ifeanyi Ararume as the Non Executive Chairman of Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation Limited as another serious problem.
This is contained in a statement signed and issued in Kano by the Association Chairman Ambassador Ibrahim Waiya and Secretary General Ambassador Ibrahim Yusuf.
They however maintained that while they recognised the powers of Judiciary on law adjudication especially on matters bordering on the rule of law they are of the opinion that this kind of sensitive matter ought to be treated with utmost caution considering the collateral damage it might cause bearing in mind the corporate image NNPC and integrity of Nigeria.
It also find the court ruling rendering the decision of President to hire and fire an appointee to any official position as an affront to the President’s constitutional powers even though this might be a subject of legal debate that may generate many interpretations.
According to them this singular action has the tendency to expose the corporation to potential breach of contract litigations and may result in severe implications for the company Nigerians and entire oil sector which till date stands as the backbone of Nigerian economy.
The Networks appealed to the Federal Government to as a matter of urgency carefully analyse the impact of this decision on Nigerian economy and take necessary steps to ensure that the ensure that the integrity of Nigerian state is not compromised.
