MINISTER ATAH REBUFFS APC WARNING, REAFFIRMS SUPPORT FOR BARAU

By Ahmed Mohammad Kano

KANO — The Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Hon. Abdullahi Atah, has responded to a warning from the Kano State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), saying his recent remarks were made within his democratic rights and were not intended to cause friction within the party.

In a statement issued by his publicity aide, Seyi Olorunsola, Atah described the APC’s letter—signed by state chairman Abdullahi Abbas and copied to President Bola Tinubu—as an unnecessary distraction at a time of national security emergency.

He cautioned against dragging internal party matters into the public domain while the President is attending to urgent security issues.

Atah reaffirmed his loyalty to President Tinubu and to the APC, and addressed his endorsement of Deputy Senate President Jibrin Barau’s 2027 gubernatorial ambition.

He said his comments on Barau’s suitability were personal and patriotic, not official party declarations, and reflected a strategic assessment aimed at positioning the APC for victory in the 2027 elections.

The minister added that he remains committed to the APC, to the President, and to the peace and progress of Kano State.
