KANO STATE GOVERNMENT BACKS NNPC FOUNDATION’S FARMERS TRAINING INITIATIVE

Kano, Sept. 30, 2025 (NAN) – The Kano State Government has pledged its support for the NNPC Foundation’s Vulnerable Farmers Training Programme, aimed at empowering farmers with modern agricultural techniques and tools.
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Dr. Yusuf Ali, represented the Commissioner, Dr. Danjuma Mamood, at the programme’s opening ceremony.
Ali said the state government has prioritized agricultural transformation, employing 1,038 extension officers, revitalizing irrigation schemes, empowering smallholder farmers, and investing in mechanization programmes.
He commended the NNPC Foundation for the initiative, noting that it aligns with the state government’s vision to boost food production and security.
The programme aims to equip 6,000 vulnerable farmers with practical skills and knowledge to increase productivity and profitability.
The NNPC Foundation’s Managing Director, Mrs. Emmanuella Arukwe, represented by Mrs. Eugenia C. Dominion, said the programme is designed to support farmers in transitioning from subsistence farming to sustainable income and greater resilience.
