Kano – August 2, 2026 – The Kano State Government has announced the death of renowned political singer, Muhammadu Buhari, popularly known as Kosan Waka. He died on Sunday at the age of 47.
This was contained in a statement issued on Sunday by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.
According to the family, Kosan Waka will be buried in Tsanni village, Batagarawa Local Government Area of Katsina State by 5pm on Sunday.
Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf extended condolences to the family of the deceased, particularly his mother, as well as his friends, associates and admirers.
The governor described the late singer as a Kano-based patriotic son of Katsina whose music transcended politics and served as a tool for promoting unity, culture and public enlightenment.
He prayed to Allah to forgive the shortcomings of the deceased, grant him Aljannatul Firdaus, and give his family the strength to bear the loss.
Kosan Waka was one of Kano’s celebrated political singers, whose talent and performances earned him admiration across the country.
His contributions to political communication and Hausa entertainment will remain indelible, the statement said.
