The Kano State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to partnering with UNESCO and the Republic of Korea on technical and vocational education through the Better Education for Africa’s Rise (BEAR III) project.

This assurance was given by Commissioner of Education, Dr. Ali Haruna Makoda, during a meeting with the project’s technical team at his office.

The BEAR III project aligns with the state’s policies of empowering youth with practical, market-relevant skills.

The project aims to equip young people with technical and generic skills to access decent employment through a strengthened TVET system.

The project has completed needs assessments of technical colleges, conducted seminars on work-based learning, and organized strategic roundtables on career guidance.

Dr. Makoda emphasized the state’s readiness to work with the project to enhance technical and vocational training, particularly among technical college students.

He expressed confidence that the meeting would reach a clear consensus on priority crops for agro-processing programs and suitable institutions for project implementation.

Dr. Olodo M.A. noted that the meeting aimed to align efforts to strengthen skills, transform agriculture, and open opportunities for young people.

Prof. Diyauddeen Basheer Hasan emphasized the Board’s focus on developing applicable curricula for Kano State, particularly in areas like irrigation.

The meeting highlighted the collaborative efforts between the Kano State Government, UNESCO, and the Republic of Korea to enhance technical and vocational education in the state.
