Plateau State Government Urges Vigilance in Flood-Prone Areas

The Plateau State Government has issued a warning to residents in flood-prone areas, particularly in Mangu and Shendam Local Government Areas, to be on high alert due to a recent 5-day flood alert issued by the Federal Government.
This is contained in a statement issued by Commissioner for Information and Communication,Joyce Lohya Ramnap, mni in Jos on Thursday.
This caution follows a devastating flood incident in Shimankar, Shendam Local Government Area, which destroyed homes, farmlands, and livelihoods.
Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang has directed Local Government Chairmen, traditional rulers, and community leaders to enhance sensitization efforts and collaborate with emergency response agencies.
The state government has reiterated its commitment to supporting flood victims through the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA).
Residents are advised to take proactive measures to ensure their safety and protect their properties.
The State Government assures citizens that necessary measures are being implemented to respond promptly to emergencies.
Citizens are urged to take personal responsibility for staying safe during this period.
