The Kano State Government, under the leadership of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, has reiterated its commitment to providing quality education in both public and private schools across the state.

This commitment was emphasized by the State Commissioner of Education, Dr. Ali Haruna Makoda, during the launch of the National Policy on Non-State Schools in Nigeria in Abuja.

Dr. Makoda highlighted the government’s efforts to actualize quality and accessible education, including declaring a state of emergency in education, allocating a significant share to the education sector, providing learning materials, and constructing and renovating schools.

He noted that in 2024, the Governor approved 29.75% allocation to education, and in 2025, the allocation increased to 31.5%, demonstrating the administration’s commitment to the sector.

The Commissioner assured that the Kano State Ministry of Education, through the Private and Voluntary Institutions Management Board, is working with private school owners to ensure compliance with rules and regulations governing private schools.

The government aims to ensure that non-state schools meet national standards, promote accountability and transparency, and provide quality education.

Dr. Makoda expressed the state’s support for the National Policy on Non-State Schools, launched by the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, to regulate and improve the quality of education in private and mission-owned schools.

The policy aims to promote quality education and accountability in non-state schools, benefiting the state and the country at large.
