A high-powered delegation led by the State Commissioner of Education, Dr. Ali Haruna Makoda, visited Kwara State to gain first-hand knowledge of the operational framework of the KwaraLEARN initiative.

The visit follows engagements between officials of the Kano State Ministry of Education and NewGlobe during the World Education Summit in London in May 2025.

Dr. Makoda explained that the tour aims to launch a similar initiative in Kano State, tagged “kanONE,” and to explore the possibility of replicating the digital learning management tools used in Kwara State.

During the tour, the Kano delegation observed the practical application of NewGlobe-supported education reforms in Kwara State, including the use of e-tablets by teachers for lesson delivery and real-time student data collection.

The delegation also had a strategic dialogue with the Kwara State Commissioner for Basic Education and Human Capital Development, Dr. Lawal Olalekan Olohungbebe, where key features of KwaraLEARN were discussed.

The study tour was deemed successful in exposing the Kano State education leadership to a functional and innovative model in addressing learning poverty.

The delegation included the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Alhaji Bashir Baffa Muhammed, Executive Chairman, Kano SUBEB, Alhaji Yusuf Kabeer, and the Director of Planning, Research, and Statistics, Ministry of Education, Yusha’u Hamza.
