Police apprehend 6 armed robbery suspects, recover stolen vehiclesRobberyBy Aminu GarkoKano, The Police Command in Kano State says it has apprehended six persons over suspected involvement in armed robbery activities in the stateThe command’s Spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Kiyawa, said in a statement in Kano on Tuesday that four stolen vehicles were also recovered.Kiyawa said that the breakthrough followed series of operations led by CSP Rabiu Gidado of the Special Intervention Squad.He said that a suspect was apprehended in Plateau with a stolen 2016 Toyota Corolla belonging to Nura Abdullahi of Naibawa Quarters, Kano.The spokesman further said that the command also apprehended three suspects in connection with an armed robbery incident on May 1, in Hotoro’s Ladanai Quarters.Kiyawa said that the suspects allegedly stole a black Toyota Yaris vehicle, three laptops, an iPhone 11, and N102,000 in cash among other items.He said that the police recovered a stolen Toyota Yaris and an unregistered Peugeot 406 suspectedly stolen from Bechi Quarters in Kumbotso LGA, Kano from the gang.The police image maker also said that on May 16, the command apprehended a suspected motor vehicle thief while attempting to sell a stolen Howo concrete mixer in Kano.He said that investigations revealed that the vehicle was stolen from Kazaure Local Government Area in Jigawa.“The vehicle has been recovered, and the suspect is currently assisting the police with investigation,” he said.kiyawa said that the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Bakori, had commended the officers for their display of professionalism and gallantry.He expressed the commitment of the command to remain diligent towards stamping out crime in the state.“Members of the public are urged to report crime information or suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
