Kano, Comrade Ambassador Ismaila Ammai Maizare, former Chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists, Kano State Council, has commended the humanitarian and medical contributions of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to vulnerable communities in Nigeria and beyond.
Maizare, who is the Majidadin Sarkin Shanun Kano and Sarkin Labaran Hausawan Africa, made the commendation while speaking on Saudi Arabia’s humanitarian and medical interventions on Tuesday in Kano.
He said humanitarian assistance is compassion in action, aimed at saving lives, restoring hope and standing with people during difficult moments.
“In this regard, Saudi Arabia has continued to demonstrate that humanitarian responsibility goes beyond borders, religion and geography,” he said.
Maizare said Saudi medical and relief missions have played important roles in bringing medical expertise, doctors, surgical services, medicines and emergency supplies closer to communities that need them most.
He said such missions represent a practical expression of solidarity with people affected by poverty, disasters, conflict and other humanitarian challenges.
According to him, international partnerships remain extremely important in Nigeria where millions of people continue to face healthcare and humanitarian needs.
He said support in medical intervention, surgery, emergency healthcare, rehabilitation and relief materials can complement the efforts of governments, hospitals, humanitarian organisations and local communities.
“Behind every medical procedure is a human being whose life may be transformed. Behind every emergency supply is a family that receives assistance at a critical moment.
“Behind every doctor and healthcare professional who travels to serve vulnerable communities is a message that no community should be forgotten,” Maizare said.
He said Saudi humanitarian efforts also demonstrate the importance of international cooperation in addressing global challenges, noting that humanitarian crises do not respect national boundaries.
He said beyond Nigeria, Saudi humanitarian and medical initiatives have reached communities in different parts of the world, particularly those affected by emergencies and humanitarian crises.
Maizare said Nigerians appreciate partnerships that strengthen the healthcare system and bring relief to vulnerable citizens.
He stressed the importance of ensuring that humanitarian assistance reaches those who genuinely need it, while promoting transparency, professionalism and effective coordination with relevant Nigerian institutions.
“Humanitarian diplomacy is one of the strongest forms of people-to-people relations. It builds trust not merely through words, but through service,” he said.
He commended the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, its humanitarian institutions, medical professionals and partners for their contributions to humanitarian and medical assistance in Nigeria and other parts of the world.
Maizare called for greater cooperation between Saudi humanitarian organisations and Nigerian institutions, particularly in specialised medical missions, capacity building, emergency response, maternal and child healthcare, medical training, rehabilitation and sustainable community development.
He said collective efforts should be geared towards saving lives, reducing suffering and giving vulnerable people a renewed sense of hope and dignity.
