Emir Kano calls for establishment of Ministry for Religious Affairs

Kano, The Emir of Kano Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, on Friday advised the incoming Administration of President Elect Sen. Bola Tinubu to established Ministry for Religious Affairs with aimed of ensuring interfaith dialogue to enhanced peaceful coexistence among Nigerians.
Bayero made the call during the launch of interfaith facilitators Guide held at the Afficent event Centre in Kano organised by ActionAid.
Represented by the Sarkin Dawaki Babba , District Head of Nasarawa Alhaji Aminu Babba Danagundi said the ministry of Religion affairs would be charged with the responsibility of promoting religious tolerance and understanding among Nigerians .
He described Kano as a bastion of peace harmony and peaceful coexistence where followers of various religions have no axe to grind.
He said peace is sn indispensable aspect of creatures on the planet and that there was the compelling need for it to be safeguarded.
The Emir Noted that Kano had been occupying a prominent position in accommodating people of diverse religious affiliations for peaceful coexistence to be considered , hence the interfaith facilitator guide unveiled by ActionAid was very timely.
Speaking earlier, the country Director ActionAid Nigeria Ene Obi, represented by Director programs ActionAid Suwaiba Mohammad Dankabo, stressed the need for upholding the virtues of interfaith dialogues for peaceful coexistence among Nigerians.
“We must be seen to leave in peace with one another irrespective of tribe,religious and political differences for our collective political growth’,she said
She maintained that unveiling the Facilitators guide would pave the way for the concept of the interfaith dialogue to be fully comprehended .
The Executive Director Dispute Resolution and Development Initiative, Dr Muhammad Mustapha Yahaya, said the interfaith facilitators guide will play a vital role in addressing the challenge of violent extremism in kano Northwest and the entire Nation.
Yahaya, violent extremism is on the increase in different parts of the globe , hence measures needed to be taken in ensuring that the menece do not escalate in Kano state and other parts of the Nation.
