Kabiru Alhassan Rurum, a member of the House of Representatives representing Rano, Kibiya, and Bunkure federal constituency, has indeed advised hunters from Northern Nigeria to stop traveling to the South.
This call comes after a tragic incident in Uromi, Edo State, where Northern hunters were killed and set ablaze.
Rurum emphasized that carrying weapons across regions could lead to devastating consequences and advocated for restraint and sensitivity in the movement of individuals bearing arms.
He also recalled a situation where over 30 hunters from his constituency were detained in Ondo State, highlighting the need for caution.
As a gesture of goodwill, Rurum donated N5 million to the bereaved families and pledged to build an Islamiyya Primary and Secondary School for the orphans.
Senator Masa’ud Jibrin El-Doguwa, factional chairman of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in Kano State, condemned the killings and urged communities to learn from the tragedy.
El-Doguwa praised Rurum’s gesture and pledged that construction work on the school would begin soon to support the affected families.
