Gov. Yusuf Distributes Goats, Rams, Bulls Worth N2.23bn To Beneficiaries

In a bid to boost livestock production and empower rural communities, the administration of Governor Yusuf has launched a massive livestock empowerment initiative, benefiting over 2,000 individuals across the state.

According to figures released by the Commissioner for Agriculture, Dr. Danjuma Mahmud revealed that a total of 7,158 goats were distributed to 2,386 beneficiaries, with each recipient receiving three goats.

Dr Danjuma Mahmud explained that “This initiative is expected to enhance goat production and provide a sustainable source of income for the beneficiaries.”

The Commissioner for Agriculture stated that in addition to the goat distribution, the state government also provided 1,975 rams to 987 beneficiaries, with each recipient receiving two rams for fattening, along with three months’ worth of feed and drugs.

He stressed that “This component of the initiative aims to promote ram production and improve the livelihoods of pastoral communities.”

Dr Mahmud stated that 1,400 bulls were distributed to 700 beneficiaries, with each recipient receiving two bulls, along with three months’ worth of feed and drugs.

According to him “This initiative is expected to enhance cattle production and provide a significant boost to the state’s agricultural sector.”

He clarified that “The total cost of the livestock empowerment initiative stands at N2.23 billion, demonstrating the state government’s commitment to supporting rural communities and promoting agricultural development.”

Dr. Danjuma Mahmud maintained “The program is expected to have a positive impact on the state’s economy, as well as the lives of thousands of rural dwellers.”
