The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has flagged off a nationwide sensitization campaign aimed at discouraging Nigerians, especially youths, from embracing the get rich quick syndrome. Instead, the agency is promoting self-development through dedication and hard work.

The campaign, which was launched at a press conference in Kano, will also focus on four other critical issues: World HIV Day, Security Awareness, World Human Rights Day, and the Tax Reform Bill.

Mairo Idi-Waziri, Assistant Director of the Agency, expressed concern over the current behavior of youths, who are increasingly influenced by social media to pursue wealth without hard work.

“The behavior and attitude of our youths have changed, most of them are after getting rich quick and not hard work,” she said.

Idi-Waziri emphasized the importance of integrity, good character, and hard work, urging youths to focus on personal development and discourage the get rich quick syndrome.

“Usually, when you get rich quick, it ends negatively,” she warned.

The Director General of the agency called on Nigerians to join the agency in addressing the five critical issues, emphasizing the need for collective action and active participation from all Nigerians.

“Today, we are commencing a nationwide mobilization of Nigerians to unite in our commitment to addressing these pressing issues and fostering a more informed, secure, and ethical society,” he stated.
