Abuja – September 4, 2026 – A former Director General of the National Broadcasting Commission, NBC, Nasir Danladi Bako, has congratulated Abdulhameed Dembos on his reappointment for a second tenure as Director General of the Nigerian Television Authority, NTA, by President Bola Tinubu.
In a statement on Thursday, Bako also commended President Tinubu for the reappointment, describing it as a reaffirmation of the “Renewed Hope” agenda within the broadcast media industry.
Bako, who is the Kogunan Sokoto and holds the national honour of Officer of the Order of the Niger, OON, said he was in a position to assess the performance of media professionals having served as an operational staff of NTA and later as DG of NBC.
He said Dembos had gradually restored better sound, clearer pictures and a higher level of quality content in news and programmes at the NTA.
“It’s not yet uhuru but NTA has moved several steps ahead of where it was five years ago,” he said.
Bako recalled that Dembos was on his production crew in 1991 at NTA Kaduna studios where he produced and directed a musical documentary. He said Dembos’ work ethics and performance-driven mentality were a reflection of the training in the 1970s and 1980s.
He congratulated the renewed Director General of NTA on the reappointment.
