KNSG  Demolition of Tinubu Ally’s Structure Sparks Legal Action

By Aminu Garko

Kano, Alhaji Ibrahim Muktahr Mohammed, Managing Director of IMUK Logistics Concept and Shankus Construction Company, is taking legal action against the Kano State Government for allegedly demolishing his  over N20 million property along Zoo Road without due process.

Mohammed claims he followed all necessary procedures before building the structure, including obtaining guidance from the relevant agency and paying all required fees .

The businessman, Alhaji Ibrahim Muktahr Mohammed, expressed deep concern over the demolition of his over N20 million property along Zoo Road.

While the financial loss is significant, Mohammed emphasized that his primary concern lies with the psychological trauma inflicted upon him, his family, and the general public.

This emotional distress, he noted, cannot be quantified in monetary terms.

Moreover, Mohammed is worried about the potential consequences of the demolition on the community.

He had envisioned the structure as a source of employment and a catalyst for economic growth, which would have helped alleviate some of the hardships faced by the people.

The well-being of the community, he stressed, remains his top priority.

However, Arch. Ibrahim Yakubu Adamu, Managing Director of the Kano State Urban Planning and Development Authority (KNUPDA), disputes Mohammed’s claims, stating that the building was constructed on accessible roads without proper development control.

Adamu asserts that the agency provided three notifications warning Mohammed of the impending demolition, citing evidence of non-compliance .

Mohammed believes the demolition is politically motivated, given his close ties to President Tinubu and his donation of a campaign office in Kano.

The incident has caused significant emotional distress, with Mohammed stating, “the demolition of my structure is more than politics, it has tortured my physique” ¹.

This development comes amidst Kano State Government’s efforts to demolish structures built on public land allegedly sold by the previous administration.

The situation highlights the complexities of urban planning and development in Kano, with conflicting narratives and competing interests at play.
