Kano, July 9, 2026 – Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has been honoured with the Arewa Young Lawyers’ Forum Award for his commitment to promoting the legal profession and strengthening the justice sector in the state.
This was contained in a statement issued by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, on Thursday.
The award was presented during the Forum’s Second Annual Summit in Kano, which had in attendance legal practitioners, senior advocates, academics, judicial officers and other stakeholders.
Presenting the award, Barrister Oyinkansola Badejo Okunsanya, SAN, said Governor Yusuf was selected in recognition of his contributions to the legal profession, support for the activities of the Forum, and sustained investment in the justice sector.
She commended the governor’s respect for the rule of law, commitment to judicial independence and policies aimed at improving access to justice in Kano State.
In his response, Governor Yusuf thanked the Forum for the honour, describing the award as both a privilege and a call to greater service.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to promoting justice, fairness and the rule of law, and pledged continued support for the judiciary and collaboration with legal practitioners to enhance justice delivery and strengthen democratic institutions.
