Imbibe culture of helping one another – Emir Bayero

Kano , The Emir of Kano Alhaji Aminu Bayero, on Saturday appealed to members of the general public to imbibe the culture of helping one another irrespective of religion, tribal cultural towards building a peaceful society.
The News Agency of Nigeria ( NAN) reports that the Emir Bayaro spoke to newsmen in Kano in commemoration of the World First Aid Day celebrations.
He said the first aid programme was voluntary associated which have a long time history.
The Emir explained that he had been an active member of Jama’atul Nasril Islam for over three decades and had visited almost all states of the federation in propagation of the importance of first aid in providing first aid support to the vulnerable groups.
” I am appealing with the rich among communities across Nigeria to assist the needy around them that are facing hardships and hunger due to the current difficult economic situation in the country.
“Nigerians are facing difficult times and hardship, while hunger is vivid that some even go to bed for two or more days without eating while others cannot afford cheap medication worth N300 prescribed by medical workers,” he said.
Bayero called on Nigerians to remain hopeful, saying “the situation is not permanent and will be a thing of the past as no condition is permanent.
“There is need to support and assist one another and not just in times of disasters. There are cases of people whose neighbors might not have found food to eat for a day or two while they live in affluence.
“Rendering assistance to such can also be described as aide. More so, our religions encourage this.
“It is a problem that is now widespread as more people are in need of assistance.
“We are hereby calling on the general public to come out and render support and assistance to the needy so that we can find a solution to the problems on ground or at least reduce the intensity of the hardship,” he said.
Bayero said the Emirate had gone far in enlightening the well-to-do in the communities for them to support the needy and ensure that food and support reaches those who actually need it.
“Rendering assistance here can also be described as aide. More so, in Islam, we know the need for this. It is something that is now widespread as more people are in need of assistance.
“We are hereby calling on the general public to come out and render support and assistance to the needy so that we can find a solution to the problem on ground or at least reduce the intensity.
“As I have said earlier, we will not relent on our call to the government as we inform them of the hardship being face d by the people. We call on them to find solution to the hardship being faced by the people, especially those that are weak from among us,” he said.
The Emir recalled how some pubic figures like the late Emir of Kano Alhaji Ado Bayero, Shehu of Borno, late Chief MKO Abiola and other philanthropist contributed towards the development of the First Aid Groups.
He called for more collaborative efforts in ensuring that the First Aid Groups achieve their objectives.
Bayero also appealed to the general public to their redouble efforts in praying for peace, improved security and wealth in Kano State and the country at large.
