Gov.Yusuf Launches “AbbaCare” Initiative, Providing Free Health Insurance to 300,000 Vulnerable Residents

Governor Abba Yusuf has introduced the Abba Care Initiative, a groundbreaking program aimed at enhancing healthcare access for Kano’s most vulnerable populations. This initiative has enrolled over 300,000 individuals in a free health insurance scheme, providing them with access to quality healthcare services at no cost in designated facilities across the state.

Beneficiaries of the Program

• Pregnant women
• Senior citizens
• Persons with disabilities
• Inmates in correctional facilities
• Individuals living with sickle cell anemia

The program is fully funded and managed by the Kano State Contributory Health Management Agency (KCHMA). Governor Yusuf described the initiative as a cornerstone of his administration’s vision for inclusive governance, reaffirming his commitment to the health and welfare of Kano’s underprivileged citizens ¹.
