Kano Governor Vows to Combat Corruption, Commits to Transparency and Accountability

Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has reaffirmed his commitment to fighting corruption, stressing that a leader must “stand on their feet” to minimize corruption. He made this statement while receiving executive members of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) at the Kano Government House.
Governor Yusuf emphasized that his administration’s transparency and accountability crusade has enabled the sustained implementation of the minimum wage. He noted that before signing the basic salary into law, the state’s financial records were scrutinized to prevent corruption and financial leakages.
The governor also highlighted his administration’s efforts in education, citing the Postgraduate Scholarship Programme, which has sponsored 600 students to study abroad. He announced plans to visit India to meet with students and assess their progress.
Additionally, Governor Yusuf mentioned the revival of 26 Entrepreneur Institutions to train youth in various skills, promoting productivity.
NLC Chairman, Joe Ajaero, commended the governor’s commitment to the state’s people, urging others to follow suit.
