KNSG recommits to educational development

Kano, Th Kano State Government has renewed its commitment to accord priority attention to the development of education in the state.

This is contained in a statement issued by the Director, Public Enlightenment, Ministry for Special Duties, Malam Umar Kurmawa, on Thursday in Kano.

It said the Commissioner for Special Duties, Hajiya Amina Sani, disclosed this while receiving the President of National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Mr Pedro Obi, in her office.

She said that the state government would continue to partner with the NANS leadership on issues of education of all children.

Sani explained that the sponsorship of 1001 indigenous students abroad for post graduate studies is an investment worth carrying out by all leaders.

She commended Gov. Abba Yusuf for such initiative and pressing the buttons of leadership new drive to provide citizens with post graduate education.

Sani described the visit as an extended gesture to both her office and the governor, pledging that the relationship will be sustained.

Earlier, Obi commended Gov. Abba Yusuf for slashing 50 per cent school fees of students of higher learning, school feeding programme and above all sponsorship of 1001 students abroad for post graduate studies.

He described the visit as part of his campaign pledges to go round campuses to address some of the lingering problems right at the place where the problem occurred.

Obi commended the state government for giving priority attention to the educational sector.
