Sokoto,  The Nigerian Customs Officers’ Wives Association (COWA) has launched the Illela Green Border Sustainability Initiative to empower widows and vulnerable women in border communities.

COWA President, Mrs. Kikelomo Adeniyi, said the initiative aims to enhance family livelihoods, promote sustainable development, and foster women’s economic independence.

During a visit to Sokoto State, Mrs. Adeniyi urged women to engage in productive ventures, establish small-scale businesses, and contribute to household income and community resilience.

She also emphasized the importance of the National Immunization Campaign against Measles-Rubella and other childhood diseases, describing child immunization as a “moral and social responsibility.”

The Association is constructing a multi-purpose Skills Acquisition Centre in Abuja to equip thousands of women with income-generating skills and promote inclusive economic growth.

Mrs. Adeniyi called for stronger collaboration between COWA and the Sokoto State Government to advance women’s empowerment, family welfare, and environmental sustainability initiatives.
