Bago,Yusuf Honored with Pensioners-Friendly Award

Governors Mohammad Umaru Bago of Niger State and Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State received the Pensioners-Friendly Governor award from the Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP) during the 12th Quadrennial National Delegates Conference in Kano.

The award recognizes the governors’ contributions to senior citizens’ welfare, particularly in settling pension and gratuity arrears. 

Governor Bago’s efforts in Niger State have led to enhanced performance and accountability in the Pension Board through strategic measures, including appointing experienced personnel and introducing an automated operating system.

Governor Bago’s Initiatives to establish a farm for pensioners to participate in modern farming and sustain their livelihood.

Promoting agricultural development in Niger State through tractor distribution and empowerment programs for youth and women.

Governor Yusuf’s achievements include settled retirement benefits worth over N16 billion, addressing challenges faced by senior citizens in accessing their benefits.

The conference, attended by delegates from across the federation, focused on enhancing senior citizens’ welfare.

Mazi Godwin Abumisi, NUP President, emphasized the importance of settling pension and gratuity arrears in addressing economic challenges faced by senior citizens.

Governor Bago pledged a donation of N100 million and thanked Governor Yusuf for hosting the conference.
