In a groundbreaking move to combat drug abuse among married couples, the Nigerian Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Kano Command has proposed a revolutionary initiative – mandatory drug tests before marriage.
Commandant Abubakar Idris revealed this during an interview in Kano, appealing to state lawmakers to enact a supporting law.
The proposal aims to address the alarming rate of marriage breakdowns in Kano, often linked to drug abuse.
Investigations show that one spouse often introduces drugs to the other after marriage, hindering efforts to combat drug abuse.
The NDLEA Commander emphasized that the proposed law seeks to reduce drug abuse among married couples and promote a healthier society.
Ahmad urged youths, women, and the public to shun drug abuse and work together to move the state and nation forward.
This innovative approach tackles drug abuse at its roots, promoting a more sustainable society.
