CP urges security agencies to use technology to fight insecurity

Kano, The Commissioner of Police in Kano State, Mr Usaini Gumel, has urged security agencies to use technology alongside other means to combat emerging security threats in the country.
Gumel made the call at the opening of the 14th Zonal Security Conference for State Directors of Security in the North West geopolitical zone on Thursday in Kano.
“I urge us all to continue to seek available technology and more innovative solutions to foster stronger inter-agency partnerships.
“This will enhance our capabilities for combating the emerging security threats to our corporate existence as a nation.
“This is the time to acknowledge the dedication and commitment of Security Agencies’ tireless efforts and strong synergy contributing to the maintenance of peace and stability in our communities.
The commissioner said the conference presented a significant opportunity for coming together, sharing insights and reaching agreement on how best to strategize.
“The conference also underscores the importance of collaboration, information sharing, and recognition of our collective efforts in addressing the evolving security challenges facing our Zone.
“It is by advancing our shared goals for the sustenance of peace and security that Kano State is the commercial nerve centre of not only the Northwest, but Nigeria at large remains peaceful.
“It is my ardent prayer that this conference serves as a platform for constructive dialogue, mutual learning, and the strengthening of our collective resolve to safeguard lives and properties of our communities,”he added.
The Director, Department of State Services (DSS), Alhassan Muhammad, said this was an initiative of the Director-General of DSS, Mr Yusuf Bichi.
He said that it is intended to among other things, facilitate operational and intelligence sharing and synergy among State SSS Directors across the geo-political zones in the Country,
“It is a platform to come together to exchange knowledge, share insights, and explore innovative solutions to addressing the myriad of security challenges prevalent in the zone.
Earlier, Gov. Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano appealed to Security agencies to get to the roots of those behind insecurity facing the country, in order to mitigate the impact and maintain peace.
“I challenge you to use intelligence data gathering to locate the whereabouts of those perpetrating the crimes for peace, progress and political stability of our fatherland.
