Kano, The Chairman of Singer Market Development Association (SIMDA), Alhaji Junaidu Zakaria, has said that the market is not planning to join any protest over the Appeal Court judgement on Kano governorship tussle.
This is contained in a statement issued by the Spokesman of the market Alhaji Aliyu Mohammad in Kano on Monday, said SIMDA is not in any way aware of the planned protest.
According to him, “the notice for the protest said to have been planned to be staged today (Monday), was believed to be orchestrated by some unscrupulous elements to destabilize commercial activities in the state.”
Zakari said, “since creation, SIMDA is committed to development of Singer market and its environs. The association would not support any move capable of disrupting the relative peace being enjoyed in the commercial city.”
He also urged traders in the grocery market to be observant and report any suspicious person or group of persons to the leadership of the market.
While thanking the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Mohammed Usaini Gumel and other security agencies for their commitment to ensuring protection of lives and property in Kano, Zakaria also reiterated the efforts of the association to supporting any move that would bring peace in the state.
