Niger 2023: SON Holds 3rd African Day of Standardization Quiz Competition

Standard Organization of Nigeria (SON) has concluded its 2023 African Day of Standardization Quiz Competition held in Minna Niger state capital with 23 schools participated in the competition.
The SON Director General and Chief Executive, Malam Faruk A. Salim have disclosed that the quiz is part of the activities to create awareness on the importance of standards in promoting the economic well being of the country with the ultimate goal of improving standard and quality assurance.
This year theme: The role of Standardization in promoting the growth of micro, small and medium sized enterprises (MSMEs) for sustainable, inclusive and diversified industrial and economic development in Africa, was designed to promote the awareness of students on standard and quality assurance activities.
Represented by the North Central Region FCT Office Coordinator, Mr Ishak Mohammed stated that they want to catch them young to be better informed, equipped to strictly adhered to requirements and work towards living in a society from substandard products and services in Nigeria.

Niger state SON acting Coordinator, Engineer Bake Samuel said that it’s crucial to improve the knowledge on the role of Standardization in promoting the growth of MSMEs for sustainable, inclusive and diversified industrial and economical development in Africa.
He revealed that market survey have shown that much commitment is still needed to raise awareness about standard amongst Nigerian schools hence to equipped the chicken with the socio economic benefits of standards.
Niger state Permanent Secretary Ministry of Education represented by deputy director, Ibrahim Leguma urged students to be innovators and entrepreneurs to actively contribute to the promotion in the society by recognizing the importance of quality and standard. However applauded SON in advocating for standard in the country without compromise.
