
KSADP,SAA commences distribution of farms inputs in Kano

Kano , The Kano State Agropastoral Development Project ( KSADP) and Sasakawa Africa Association ( SAA) on Saturday commenced the distribution of farms inputs worth N100 million to farmers across the 44 LGAs in the state.
Flagging up the distribution exercise ,the country Director of Sasakawa Africa Association,( SAA) Dr Godwin Atser said that the exercise was gear towards enhance food production in the state .
‘ We would continue to support government effort to enhance agricultural.productivity and competitiveness through increase access to inputs, extension service delivery, value addition agribusiness development’,he said.
He said that the week long exercise would enable the inputs get to the beneficiaries promptly and give them ample time for other essential pre-season activities like land acquisition and preparation.
Adding that for the crops to perform optimally,they must be planted at the right time using the correct regenerative agriculture practice and necessary inputs.
Speaking earlier the project Coordinator Abdulraheed Kofar Mata,said that Sasakawa was bringing the gap by addressing most of the challenges facing smallholder in the state by strengthening agriculture extension service through periodic distribution of improved high-yielding disease and drought resistance seed varieties.
He said that the 2023 wet season SAA/ASADP is establishing 690 clusters of demonstration plots to showcase Good Agronomic Practices ( GAP) and 192 Community Based Seed Multiplication plots across the 44 LGAs of the state to serve as a farmer learning platforms in local communities during on and off farming seasons to serve as farmer learning platforms.
The Project Coordinator acknowledge the fact that Sasakawa had tailored improve agricultural technologies and practices to march the need of smallholder farmers in the state, through co-innovation that includes knowledge packaging and adoption.
Malam Habiba Ahmed from Tidun Wasa Local government area lauded the efforts for the improve inputs which would go a long in enhance food production in the state .
