The Rano Local Government Council has launched a major initiative to support agricultural development and food security by distributing 1,800 bags of subsidized fertilizer to farmers across the local government area.
The flag-off ceremony, held at the council secretariat, was presided over by the Executive Chairman, who emphasized the council’s commitment to supporting farmers and revitalizing agricultural production.
Each bag of fertilizer is being offered at a subsidized rate of ₦20,000, making essential agricultural inputs more affordable for local farmers.
The initiative is part of the council’s efforts to reduce the burden of farm input costs and encourage increased food production during the rainy season.
The Director of Personnel Management, Alhaji Ado Danazumi, commended Governor Abba Yusuf for prioritizing grassroots development through agriculture.
He assured that the fertilizer distribution would be transparent, inclusive, and fair, targeting only genuine farmers across all wards.
Beneficiaries, including Alhaji Yunusa Muhammad Rano, expressed deep appreciation for the support, describing it as timely and impactful.
The distribution exercise is part of the Kano state government’s broader plan to empower rural farmers, improve food availability, and reduce rural poverty.
