Protest: Kano Govt set to establishes Commission inquiry

Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has announced plans to establish a Judicial Commission of Inquiry to investigate the recent protest-related violence, vandalism, and loss of lives in the state.
The governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, made the announcement on Monday, stating that the governor is taking proactive measures to restore order and ensure justice for all victims.
The governor has expressed deep regret over the disturbances caused by unpatriotic individuals driven by self-interest and has reiterated his commitment to holding those responsible accountable.
The government is closely monitoring the situation, and normalcy is gradually being restored across the state.
The government has initiated several key measures, including the prosecution of over 600 individuals suspected of orchestrating the unrest, which began on Monday.
Additionally, the governor has mandated the resumption of entrepreneurship and skills acquisition centers to promote self-reliance among young people.
The Kiru Reformatory Institute has been renovated and will soon begin providing support and rehabilitation services to youth affected by substance abuse.
The government encourages citizens to participate in the initiative by providing information to the Commission of Inquiry, which will be announced soon.
The government has also clarified that it has no link with any group of protesters, particularly those carrying Russian flags.
The governor’s spokesperson confirmed this, emphasizing the government’s commitment to protecting the lives and properties of its citizens and calling on residents to uphold peace and cooperation during this challenging period.
