Kano – July 22, 2026 – Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has approved the establishment of a Governor’s Political Advisory Team to support the administration in strengthening good governance and advancing the government’s “Kano First” agenda.
This was contained in a statement issued on Tuesday by Musa Tanko Muhammad, Press Secretary in the Office of the Secretary to the State Government.
The advisory team will function as a committee and strategic think tank to provide expert political guidance and policy advice to the governor.
It is aimed at assisting the administration in navigating the dynamic political landscape while ensuring the continued realisation of its developmental objectives.
Speaking during the inauguration of the committee at his office, the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Faruk Ibrahim, said the appointment of the members reflected the confidence reposed in their integrity, experience, patriotism and commitment to the progress of Kano State.
According to the SSG, the appointments come at a critical period when the administration is navigating the complexities of governance amid heightened political competition.
He said the committee was expected to provide the governor with strategic advice on constructive engagement with political stakeholders, including opposition groups, in order to promote political tolerance, accommodation and a stronger commitment to public service and good governance.
Alhaji Umar Faruk Ibrahim added that the committee would regularly advise the governor on effective strategies for managing emerging political challenges while ensuring that the administration remained focused on its sustainable development goals.
He said the team was also expected to recommend practical measures to prevent political violence, manage intra-party differences and strengthen unity, cooperation and solidarity necessary for a stable political environment that supports sustainable social and economic development.
He further explained that the committee would provide recommendations on aligning local and national political priorities with the administration’s “Kano First” blueprint to ensure policy consistency and effective delivery of democratic dividends to the people of Kano State.

Responding on behalf of the committee, the Chairman, Habibu Muhammad Fagge, expressed appreciation to the governor for the confidence reposed in the team.
He said it was the first time in the history of Kano State that a committee of this nature had been established to provide strategic political advisory services to the governor, noting that previous administrations relied mainly on individual advisers.
Professor Fagge assured the governor that members would discharge their responsibilities with dedication, professionalism and patriotism.
