Caption: 25 Dead, 53 Injured in Fatal Kano Auto Crash

Kano, At least 25 people died, and 53 others sustained injuries in a devastating auto crash that occurred in the early hours of July 1, 2024, at Dangwauro Flyover along the Kano-Zaria Road in the Kumbotso Local Government Area.

Twelve individuals were fortunate enough to escape unscathed.

The Kano State FRSC Sector Commander, Ibrahim Abdullahi, confirmed the tragic incident, disclosing that the crash involved an IVECO trailer with registration number XA 311 ZB.

The accident was attributed to excessive speed, dangerous driving, and overloading, culminating in the loss of control and subsequent crash.

During the rescue operation, items recovered from the scene included six motorcycles, ten mobile phones, animals (goats and rams), maize, and the sum of N400,000.

All recovered items are currently in police custody. The victims received immediate medical attention at Murtala Muhammed Specialist Hospital in Kano, where 25 fatalities were confirmed.

Abdullahi emphasized the dangers of transporting animals and goods alongside human beings, urging motorists to adhere strictly to traffic laws and regulations to prevent such tragedies.
