Professor Bashir Garba, the newly appointed Vice Chancellor of Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto, has reaffirmed his commitment to transforming the institution and elevating it to greater heights. He made this promise while receiving a courtesy visit from the Mass Communication department’s staff, led by Dr. Abubakar Musa Mijinyawa.
The delegation, which included former Director General of the National Broadcasting Commission Dr. Danladi Bako, expressed confidence in Prof. Garba’s ability to improve the university’s fortunes, particularly in the Mass Communication department. Dr. Mijinyawa briefed the Vice Chancellor on the department’s achievements, including the accreditation of its courses by the National Universities Commission and the establishment of the university’s campus radio.
Prof. Garba congratulated the staff on their achievements, acknowledging the efforts of his predecessors, Prof. Risqua Arabu Shehu and Prof. Lawal Bilbis. He appealed for the unconditional support of staff, students, and the local community to help him achieve his vision for the university.
As the new Vice Chancellor, Prof. Garba brings a wealth of experience, having served as Rector of Sokoto State Polytechnic, Vice Chancellor of Sokoto State University, and Secretary to the Sokoto State Government ¹.
