Gov Yusuf, Northwest govs join Remi Tinubu at NCFBP launch in Hadejia

Hadejia – June 29, 2026 – Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, on Monday joined his counterparts from the Northwest geopolitical zone in Hadejia, Jigawa State, for the launch of the National Community Food Bank Programme, NCFBP, by Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu.

This was contained in a statement issued by his spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.

The event, attended by governors, ministers, traditional rulers and senior government officials, seeks to strengthen efforts to combat food insecurity and improve nutrition among vulnerable households, particularly pregnant women, nursing mothers and children under six.

Yusuf described the initiative as a timely intervention that complements state efforts to tackle malnutrition and food insecurity. He reaffirmed the Kano State Government’s commitment to policies that promote food security, healthcare delivery and the welfare of vulnerable communities.

The NCFBP, launched under the Renewed Hope Initiative, will provide nutritious food through Primary Healthcare Centres to vulnerable groups to reduce child malnutrition and hunger nationwide.

Governors of Kebbi, Zamfara, Sokoto, Katsina, Kaduna, Kano and Jigawa were in attendance to receive the First Lady during her visit to Hadejia.
