Kano, Kano residents on Friday celebrated Eid-el-Fitr peacefully, following tightened security measures, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports.
NAN reports that security operatives were stationed in many parts of the city, ensuring a calm atmosphere at prayer grounds, roads, and public places.
The tight security contributed significantly to orderly conduct of activities marking the day
The festive mood was evident as residents stepped out in elegant attires to mark the end of the holy month of Ramadan.
Families and friends gathered to offer prayers and express gratitude to Allah for the successful completion of the fasting period.
Acts of kindness and generosity also defined the day, as many residents shared meals with neighbours, relatives, and well-wishers.
This reflects the spirit of unity and compassion associated with Ramadan.
One of the residents, Malam Abubakar Salihu of Unguwar Wanbai area of the city praised security personnel for their professionalism during and after the prayers.
He said the atmosphere was calm, with residents moving peacefully to their homes after prayers
‘’It is a testament to the security agencies’ effectiveness.,” he said.
Another resident, Alhaji Musa Ibrahim of Zoo Road, expressed delight with the peaceful atmosphere in the state.
Ibrahim said it was heartwarming that residents celebrated the Eid-el-Fitr in a peaceful and joyous atmosphere.
‘’This is because of heightened security measures deployed across the eight metropolitan Local Government Areas of the state, ‘’ he said.
Also, two residents, Malam Mohammad Usman and Abdullahi Fagge, expressed satisfaction with the peaceful conduct of the Sallah festivities.
They described the atmosphere as calm and well-coordinated and commended both security agencies and residents for their cooperation.
NAN also reports that in spite of the slight rise in transportation fares across the metropolis, some of the residents visited their loved ones and recreational centres.
